Does Ashtabula County have a 4-H Foundation Fund?
Yes. Our 4-H Foundation was officially started in 1997. So far, each year we've been able to raise money at our annual Pig Roast and Live Auction. In the past 7 years, through these Pig Roasts we have reached 75% of our intended goal! In 2004 alone, we raised over $12,000. We hope to reach our $100,000 goal by 2006. We can't do it alone, your help is very much appreciated!
A contribution to the Ashtabula County 4-H Foundation will support:
- 4-H Scholarships
- 4-H learning aids, slide sets, videotapes, demonstration models and audio-visual equipment
- 4-H School Enrichment Programs
- Additional urban 4-H Program development
- College Scholarships for 4-H Alumni
- 4-H Awareness and Expansion Funding for 4-H Promotion and recruitment of new members
- and much, much more!
Why is it necessary to have an Ashtabula County 4-H Foundation?
County, state and federal budgets are very restricted, and usually cannot be stretched to provide more than the basic necessities. Interest income from county foundations can supplement these budgets in addition to annual contributions to help assist with:
- Ashtabula County 4-H College Scholarships
- awards for youth and adult volunteers
- providing added incentives
- development of new programs
- youth and volunteer education
- purchasing of program materials
Who manages the interest earned at the county level?
Monies generated through earned interest is handled by the Ashtabula County 4-H Foundation Treasurer. These individuals have a concern for the local 4-H program and distribute money through a formal process.
Yes. Thanks to all the contributors thus far, who made these scholarships possible!
