OSU Extension and the Ashtabula County Master Gardeners are pleased to be offering a Spring Community Class on Wednesday, May 16 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Ashtabula County Extension office located at 39 Wall Street in Jefferson, Ohio. We invite you to join the Ashtabula County Master Gardeners as they offer this special spring class. Two topics will be presented at this workshop.

OSU Extension in Northeast Ohio is pleased to be hosting workshops for landowners to help them understand the financial and tax implications of oil & gas leases/royalties. This workshop titled “Financial & Tax Implications of Oil & Gas Leases/Royalties in Northeast Ohio will feature David Marrison, OSU Extension Associate Professor, who will discuss the financial and tax implications of Marcellus Shale Leases.

The General and Horse Public Speaking Contest will be held at the Ashtabula County fairgrounds on May 21, 2012. Reservations are due by May 14th to the OSU Extension office.

The 4-H Camp Counselors will be holding a Rigatoni Fundraising dinner at the Ashtabula County fairgrounds on Friday, May 25 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Adult tickets are $5 and children under 12 are $3. Tickets are available at the Ashtabula County Extension Office and from Camp Counselors.

OSU Extension and AmeriCorps partner to help rural homeowners in financial distress
Economically vulnerable residents in Ashtabula County will benefit from a new OSU Extension and AmeriCorps program designed help struggling homeowners with our country’s mortgage crisis. The Ashtabula County Extension office is pleased to be selected as one of the host sites for two AmeriCorps volunteers who will provide community outreach and family-based coaching beginning in August 2012. The goal of the program is to help improve the long-term security of economically vulnerable homeowners in rural, Ohio.

Three Woodland Management Classes to be held in Northeast Ohio
Ashtabula County is blessed to have acres upon acres of woodlands which provide many benefits to landowners. Each year, OSU Extension in conjunction with the Ohio Woodland Stewards Program at Ohio State University offers workshops to help landowners increase their forestry management skills leading to better` informed management decisions and healthier forests. OSU Extension will be hosting three woodland programs in Northeast Ohio in the next few months. Each of these programs will feature OSU Extension Specialists from the Ohio Woodland Stewards Program.
