Northeast Ohio Agronomy School on January 31, 2012 in Williamsfield, Ohio

The OSU Extension offices in northeast Ohio are pleased to announce the Northeast Ohio Agronomy Day will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Williamsfield Community Center in Williamsfield, Ohio. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m.

The featured speakers for this event will be: Dr. Mark Loux, Dr. Scott Shearer, Harold Watters from the Ohio State University, Dr. Sjoerd Duiker from Penn State University, and Dr. Robert Mullen from Potash Corp/PCS Sales.  The featured topics for this school include:  The Basics, the Management, and the Stretch to Get Beyond Average Corn Yields; Advances in Precision Agriculture; What is new in Weed Control & Weed Resistance Issues; Aftermath of a Wet Fall:  Strategies to Deal with Soil Compaction; and Getting the Most Out of Your Fertility Dollars.

The registration fee for this program is $15 per person.  This fee includes morning refreshments, program materials, and a hearty farmer’s lunch.  Pre-registration for this program is required by January 24, 2012.  Pesticide re-certification and CCA credits will be offered.  The sponsors of this program include:  OSU Extension, W.I. Miller & Sons Farm and the Ohio Soybean Council.

Three Woodland Management Classes to be held in Northeast Ohio
Ashtabula County is blessed to have acres upon acres of woodlands which provide many benefits to landowners. Each year, OSU Extension in conjunction with the Ohio Woodland Stewards Program at Ohio State University offers workshops to help landowners increase their forestry management skills leading to better` informed management decisions and healthier forests. OSU Extension will be hosting three woodland programs in Northeast Ohio in the next few months. Each of these programs will feature OSU Extension Specialists from the Ohio Woodland Stewards Program.
