'Take Charge of Your Diabetes' Program on March 30

_(CLASS LOCATION) Ashtabula County Health Department, 12 West Jefferson Street, Jefferson, Ohio -- If you're among the 800,000 Ohioans diagnosed with diabetes -- or if you suspect you may be one of the estimated 200,000 who has diabetes but don't know it -- make plans to attend "Take Charge of Your Diabetes."
Ohio State University Extension is presenting this hour-long program throughout Ohio during March, National Nutrition Month. Locally, the program will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, March 30, at The Ashtabula County Health Department, 12 West Jefferson Street, Jefferson, Ohio.
Participants will learn about signs of diabetes and possible complications, and ways they can manage the condition, including simple steps to control portions and the importance of getting regular exercise. In addition, the presentation will include a healthy food cooking demonstration featuring:
-- Fresh fruit tarts.
-- Green beans, cranberries and nuts
-- Spicy grilled chicken.
Participants will also learn about OSU Extension's Signature Program, "Dining with Diabetes" -- a three-session class that provides detailed information about living healthfully with diabetes.
The March 30th program is free, but seating is limited, so participants are asked to sign up by March 22 by contacting the OSU Extension office at 440-576-9008.
