Another exciting part of this event is the recognition of some of our amazing youth. The Ashtabula County 4-H Letter Award was started in 2019 to honor youth that show exceptional 4-H involvement and leadership and have received high recognition for their 4-H project work. Each youth received a County 4-H patch for a Letterman’s Jacket or similar item, as well as a certificate. The following youth were recognized for achieving their Letterman status: Riley Cottle of Barns & Buttons and Miley Edelman of New Valley Livestock.
The Advisory Committee also recognized two youth who have gone above and beyond in 4-H annually. 4-Hers are nominated by other members and 4-H volunteers for this award which is focused on the 4-H career of youth who have excelled in the program. The selection committee had quite the challenge selecting their top winner, as all the youth nominated were deserving. Recipients of the award receive a certificate and Fleece Jacket and their name on the plaque that hangs at the Extension Office. In 2023, eight senior and three junior 4-H youth were nominated. Those youth nominated were: Kelsie Britton – Kids & Cows, Grey Hudak – Chris Clover, Ellie Jones – Dusty Riders, Justin Lynch – Happy Hoppers, Mae Noble – Dusty Riders, Baylee Oskin – Dusty Riders, Troy Polchin – Kids & Cows, Taryn Tish – Kids & Cows and Sophia Bailey – Chris Clover, Ellie Mackey – Dusty Riders, and Lilly Perry – Saybrook Raiders. Congratulations to Sr. Top 4-Her Grey Hudak and Jr. Top 4-Her Lilly Perry.
Volunteers were also recognized for their significant years of service to the Ashtabula County 4-H program with special recognition given to Jessica Krulic as the 2023 Outstanding 4-H Volunteer and Audrey Felicijan as the 2023 Hall of Fame Inductee. These volunteers were recognized for their exceptional service to the 4-H program, dedication of time, talent and support of 4-H youth.
Congratulations to all the 4-H Clubs, families, youth and Volunteers recognized at the event!
