Biography:

Amanda Barnum, a lifelong resident of Ashtabula County, grew up on a small horse farm in Kingsville, Ohio. Her roots in agriculture run deep—she spent her childhood making hay with her dad and competing in rodeo events on weekends. Amanda’s connection to OSU Extension began early as a 13-year 4-H member and later as an intern in both Ashtabula and Morrow Counties during college.

She is a proud graduate of The Ohio State University, earning an associate degree in Equine Sciences from OSU ATI and a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture with concentrations in Animal Sciences, Agricultural Business, and Meat Science from the Columbus campus in 2019. Amanda is currently pursuing a Master of Agriculture through West Texas A&M University’s online program.

After graduation, Amanda worked as a wrangler in Colorado before returning home during the COVID-19 pandemic to build a career in veterinary medicine. Outside of work, you’ll often find her hauling horses to events—a passion she has enjoyed for more than 20 years.

From crop production and manure management to small farms and vineyards, Amanda is committed to supporting the agricultural community. She is excited to be back serving her home county and is passionate about advancing sustainable agriculture in the region.
